OSAT Blog Hop - You've Got This! September 2020

 Hi There!  Hope you're having a wonderful day.  It's that time again.. time for another One Stamp At A Time Blog Hop!  This month's theme is You've Got This!  If you have already been hopping, thanks so much for continuing on.  If you are starting with my blog, you'll definitely want to hop all the way through and check out all of the inspiration from some Amazing Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the Globe!  I am so honored to be a part of this amazing group and I find so much inspiration each and every hop!  So grab some coffee, tea, or whatever relaxes you and enjoy!

My mind went directly to two of my granddaughters when I saw this month's theme!  As you know with the Covid-19 Pandemic, everything for school is so different from the norm.  I feel like these two can use lots of encouragement and reminders that they have this!  

First here is the card I made for Taylor...

The amazing "Make a Difference" Stamp set allows you to personalize your cards!  Taylor has a lot of changes this year.  She is having to wear a mask all day in class, can't sit with her friends at lunch and has recently made the Middle School Softball Team.   I used the Forever Fern Stamp Set and the Note Cards and Envelopes.  I used Just Jade, Soft Sea Foam, Shaded Spruce and Pretty Peacock Inks and backed my front layer with Just Jade Cardstock before adding to the front of the Note Card.  

Next up is Laken's card..

Laken will be doing school remotely as she recently had brain surgery and isn't fully released from her surgeon yet.  This has been a hard time for her as she really wants to be at school with her friends and of course playing softball.  I know she's going to need a lot of encouragment as she gets used to her new normal.  I used the "Sending Sunshine" stamp set and the Note Cards and Envelopes for this one.  Again, I used the "Make a Difference" Stamp Set to personalize it for her. The inks used were Coastal Cabana, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Just Jade and Bumble Bee.  I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out the scallop rectangle and backed it with a layer of Bermuda Bay Cardstock.  I took about 1/8" off of the top of the note card so that the scallop would be more centered.  

I also made a book mark for both girls with the same stamp set to coordinate with their cards..

I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and a 2" x 5" strip of cardstock for the bookmarks. 

If you haven't tried personalizing a card with a name, you really should!  The Make a Difference Stamp is so easy to use!

SIP #20 Color Challenge - You've Got This!

Hello and Happy Happy Tuesday!  I'm scheduling this post as by the time this one goes live, Jeff and I will be in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.  I'm really looking forward to a vacation.  It's been a busy year and we haven't had a chance to chill out in some time!  

This week's Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge is a color challenge!  I have always loved pinks and browns together and throw in a little bling and you have perfection!

When the Annual Catalog came out earlier in the year, I was on a "You've Got This" stamp set kick.  Well, here I go again.  Here's my take on this week's color challenge!

  

This week's card is a simple layered card.  I started with an 11" x 4 1/4" Early Espresso card base scored at 5 1/2".I added layers of the Blushing Bride DSP from the Subtles Background Collection first on my cardbase, and then another pattern mounted on more of the Early Espresso cardstock. I stamped my flower image from the You've Got This stamp set in Early Espresso on Whisper White.  I quickly cleared embossed the flower image and then watercolored  the flower in Blushing Bride Ink with Mossy Meadow and Old Olive for the stem and leaves.  I used gold stickles on the center of the flower and mounted the panel on more Early Espresso and popped it up on my card with dimensionals.  I added some Pretty Pink Posh gold sequins. I wanted a small sentiment for the outside so I used the "Thinking of You" portion of the sentiment that actually says "Thinking of You at Christmas" from the  White Christmas stamp set.  I used my banner punch to punch the end of the sentiment and adhered it with Dimensionals over some Gold Metallic Thread.  I added an Antique Gold Brad to the end of it.  This was a super simple card but really looks pretty.  Sometimes I need to remember that simple is not always a bad thing.  I tend to overthink my cards at times!

SIP Week #8 Card Maker's Choice Challenge - You've Got This

Hello and Happy Tuesday again!  I hope you've been having a wonderful week so far.  It's still pretty hot in my neck of the woods.  I think I'm ready for fall and a bit cooler temperatures!

Well since it is Tuesday, that means I'm back over at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge blog with another design team card.

This week you pick the Stamp, Ink, and Paper!  How cool is that??

Here's my card using two of my favorite colors, Island Indigo and Real Red!

For this card I used part of 4 different stamp sets.  I used "Hardwood" for the background, "You've Got This" for the sentiment, "Thoughts and Prayers" for the small flowers that I embossed in white, and Floral Wings for the Butterfly.  Whew!  That is crazy! I stamped the sentiment in Hero Arts Ombre Ink.  I seem to be going to the "You've Got This" stamp set a lot lately.  I just love the sentiments in that set as well as the font!  The butterfly was stamped in Pool Party with Red Red (stamped off) roses and Island Indigo (stamped off) leaves.   I really LOVE the butterfly in the new "Floral Wings" Hostess stamp set.  It really is one of my new favs!

I stamped the butterfly twice and layered for some dimension.  I then added some basic pearl jewels to the body of the butterfly.  I also looped a little silver metallic thread under the butterfly.  

I LOVE to finish out the inside of a card and the Floral Wings set has this gorgeous little vine that was perfect as well as the Love Ya sentiment!

SIP Challenge #7 - Color Challenge, You've Got This

Hi all, Hope you've been having a good week so far!  It's another Tuesday and that means a brand new Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge!  This week we've got a fun color challenge for you!

I love these colors but I had one problem.... I didn't have Pacific Point ink or cardstock!  What was I to do???  My friend Andrea reminded me that I had some of the Brights Collection Background DSP and man was I relieved!  I still wasn't sure how to use the Pacific Point DSP though without something else that coordinated with it.  Well here's what I came up with and I really did love how it turned out!

I decided to use the You've Got This Stamp Set and do some paper-piecing.  I started with an 11" x 4 1/4" card base scored at 5 1/2".  I layered on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the Pacific Point DSP from the Brights Background DSP stack.  I then cut a piece of 3 3/4" x 5" Sahara Sand cardstock that had been stamped tone-on-tone with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Sahara Sand Ink.  I stamped one flower on the left side of the hardwood background and used a Mossy Meadow Stampin' Marker to color in the stem and leaf.  I then stamped the flower with Memento Tuxedo Black ink several times onto the Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point DSP and fussy cut out the bloom only.  I layered one over the flower that I stamped onto the Hardwood and then began to layer other flowers around the sides and bottom of the hardwood.  I used a White wink of stella glitter pen in the center and then used a Black Medium Tip Faber Castell artist pen to outline the stamped portion so that it would stamp out a little more.  I then used embossed the I'm here for you sentiment in black in the upper right and then as usual I felt it needed something else so I threaded some linen thread into a Pacific Point button from the Brights Buttons and glued it onto a gathered piece of Sahara Sand Lace Trim.

ICS Blog Hop - Butterflies Are Free

Hello and welcome to another Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop.  If you've been hopping along, you should have landed here from Joni's blog!

This month's hop is all about butterflies.  Stampin' Up! has sooo many awesome stamp sets with butterflies that it was really hard to chose which set to use.  I ended up going with the Kinda Ecclectic set that although current, is not a new one.  I haven't used it much and I thought it was about time I did!

I used a standard A2 card base in Bermuda Bay.  My top layer is Whisper White.  I stamped the sun in the upper left corner in Hello Honey and then sponged a little So Saffron ink around the sun and some Soft Sky ink in the other parts of the sky.  I sponged some Mossy Meadow on the bottom and then stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow Ink around the perimeter of the bottom.  I used my aqua brush to splatter just a bit of the Hello Honey ink onto the background.  It is a very subtle splatter but really adds some interest.  I stamped my butterflies on some scraps of Whisper White cardstock in Bermuda Bay and punched them out with my Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches.  I added a couple of Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the butterfly bodies and adhered them to my card with glue dots.  On the top two butterflies I also added a little of the brand new Metallic Gold Thread under the bodies of the butterflies.  I absolutely LOVE this new Metallic Thread!  If you haven't tried, why not??  It is awesome!  Last but not least for the front, I stamped the I'm here for you sentiment from the new "You've Got This" stamp set and banner cut the right side and adhered under the butterfly on the bottom.

For the inside of my card, I stamped two more of the leaves on the right side and added another sentiment from the "You've Got This" stamp set!  I really love the sentiments in that set.  They are some of my current favorites!

The Paper Players Challenge PP248 Masculine Card

Hello and Happy Monday!  I survived the day and at some point I had my doubts I would!  Why oh why are weekends not longer!

I made a card tonight for The Paper Players Challenge Blog.  To check out the challenge and link up your own card, click Here.

This was a masculine card challenge and to me that meant one thing....pull out the Traveler Stamp Set!  lol

Leave it to me to not use just one or two stamp sets.  I have a little bit of everything going on here!  I have an A2 card base of Baked Brown Sugar, a 5 3/8 x 4 1/8" layer of Pool Party, and then a 5 1/4" x 4" layer of watercolor paper.  I stamped the World Map stamp onto the Watercolor Paper with Brown Stazon Ink and then used my Aqua Painters to watercolor and distress the map.  I stamped the ship from the Traveler stamp set onto a piece of Pool Party with Memento Tuxedo Black, I then stamped the swish under it to look like Ocean Waves in Lost Lagoon.  I stamped the ship again on Whisper White and fussy cut the body of the ship and smoke stacks out and glued to the top of the ship that was stamped on Pool Party.  I cut the ship out with my MFT stitched circle dies and cut a larger circle out of Baked Brown Sugar to layer under it. I glued the blue circle to the Baked Brown Sugar circle and adhered them to my Map layer with dimensionals.  I stamped a cloud in Soft Sky from the Sprinkles of Life set and punched it out with the Tree Builder Punch and adhered it off the circle and cut the edge off at the end of the map layer.  I heat embossed the sentiment in gold on Whisper White from the You've Got This stamp set and cut a banner end on the left side.  I backed it with a layer of Baked Brown Sugar and used my Bone Folder to put a wave in it.  I adhered it to my card with dimensionals.  I stamped a suitcase from the Traveler set in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White and then fussy cut it and adhered it to the right side of the sentiment banner with dimensionals.  Whew! That was fun but I had a LOT of stamp sets out!  Oh well, that's how I roll!  lol

SIP Challenge #1 Getting to Know You

Well I have some super exciting news!!  I am now a Design Team Member for a brand new Challenge Blog called Stamp, Ink, Paper!.  For the very first Challenge we thought it would be fun to Get to Know You! So make a card that is a "You card" and link it up Here.   How much easier could that be??

I'm going to have to be completely honest..I was really stumped as to what type of card I wanted to make.  I have so many favorite techniques, styles, etc.  

After a little bit of stress topped off with a little debate with myself, I decided to go with a watercolored background technique.  My A2 card base is 110# Crest Solar White cardstock.  I topped that was a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the recently retired Stampin' Up! Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.  Next is a 3" x 4 1/4" piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and is topped with a 2 3/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White.  I heat embossed the I'm here for you sentiment from the new "You've Got This" stamp set in Gold.  My watercolor paper background effect was done by Inking a large Acrylic Block with Bermuda Bay, Pistachio Pudding, and Crushed Curry Ink, then misting the block with water and "squishing" the block onto the watercolor paper so that the paper absorbs the ink.  I dried the watercolor paper layer with my heat tool and then heat embossed the floral images from the Vintage SU "Of the Earth" stamp set with White Embossing Power.  I adhered the watercolor panel onto the Whisper White card stock and wrapped a piece of Whisper White Seam Binding around the panel.  I attached a Linen Thread Bow to the seam binding and topped with a large Pearl Jewel embellishment.  I then added a "Papillion Potpourri" butterfly made by heat embossing the butterfly with White Embossing Powder onto Bermuda Bay cardstock and then punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

You've Got This Paper-Piecing

Hello and Happy Sunday!   I finally got a chance to use my "You've Got This" stamp set today.  I've seen so many cute cards made with it.  I wanted to do something a little different than what I've been seeing.

For my card I used a Mint Macaron and added a layer of Gold Soiree DSP and then a layer of Whisper White cardstock that I had stamped with background stamp in Mint Macaron.   I heat embossed the flower with Stampin' Gold embossing powder onto the background as well as onto the Gold Soiree DSP that I wanted to use for my Paper Piecing and then fussy cut the flower and adhered onto the flower that was stamped onto the background.   I also heat embossed the sentiment in Gold and added some Gold Pink Posh sequins.  I glued a thin piece of the new Mint Macaron lace onto the edge of some Gold Sequin Trim and adhered to the upper left corner with a glue dot.  I added a Basic Gold button and topped it with a large Pink Posh Gold sequin.
