The Spot Challenge #114 Sketch Challenge with Stampin' Up! Tasteful Touches Bundle

Hi There and Happy Tuesday!  I'm over with the the Design Team at The Spot Creative Challenge Blog this week!  I really, really, REALLY struggled with this sketch!  Here it is... what do you think of it?

I'm still not thrilled with what I came up with but here it is.  And once more I've used the Tasteful Touches Bundle.  I seem to grab this one so often!  I added a little bit of foliage cut out in Misty Moonlight with the Forever Flourishing Dies.

Here are the details of this one:

Cardbase:  Just Jade Card stock 11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2" 

Front Panel:  Flowers For Every Season DSP:   I added two 1" pieces of the opposite side of the DSP with adhesive prior to cutting with the 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle Dies.  The panel was matted with a thin 3 1/2" x 4 7/8" piece of Misty Moonlight Cardstock.

Flowers:    Tasteful Touches Stamp Set:  the flowers were stamped in Versamark Ink onto Cinnamon Cider Cardstock and heat embossed in White.  I used a Chalk marker to lighten it up and added some Wink of Stella.  Both were fussy cut.  

Foliage:  Forever Flourishing Dies cut in Misty Moonlight Cardstock.

Sentiment Label: Tasteful Touches Stamp Set.  The greenery was stamped in Mint Macaron that was first stamped off on scrap paper.  The sentiment was stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink over the 2nd generation greenery.  The label was cut using hte Tasteful Labels Dies.

Card Making Tips Day 5 - Adding Texture, Stampin' Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle

Hi There!  Today's card is all about adding some texture to your card.  One way you can add texture is to use an embossing folder on one of your layers.  In today's card, not only did I emboss the back layer, but I added some ink to the embossing folder to give it a little more depth! It really made a big difference in the look of the embossed panel.  

I used two of the new In Colors in this card.  My card base was a 11" x 4 1/4" piece of Bumblebee Cardstock, scored at 5 1/2" for a top folding card.  I inked the Old World Paper  3D Textured Embossing Folder with Early Espresso Ink and ran a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4" piece of Cinnamon Cider Cardstock through the Big Shot.  I adhered the embossed piece over the front of the cardbase with Multipurpose Adhesive.  I used the second largest of the Stitched Rectangle dies to cat a panel of Bumblebee Cardstock.  I stamped the smaller sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflower Stamp Set in Crushed Curry randomly over the die cut panel.  I will be so happy when I get my In Color Inks but for now Crushed Curry over the Bumblebee gives the look of tone-on-tone.   I stamped the large Sunflower in Crushed Curry on another piece of Bumblebee Cardstock and used the large outline die to cut it out.  The detailed panel was cut out in a piece of Cinnamon Cider In Color DSP and in Early Espresso to layer them up for even more texture!  The layers were adhered only in the center of the flower with Multipurpose adhesive.  The center of the Sunflower was also cut out in Early Espresso and was popped up with a Stampin' Dimensionals.  The large completed Sunflower was then adhered with Multipurpose adhesive leaving some room at the edges to tuck in the leaves.

Garden Green Cardstock was used to cut out the leaf dies.  I added just a touch of Multipurpose adhesive on the leaves and tucked them under the edges of the Sunflower.  The sentiment was heat embossing in White on Early Espresso Cardstock and fussy cut and then added with cut up Dimensionals.  I added three Enamel In Color Dots to finish this one off!

Card Making Tips Series, Day 4 - Using Negative Space for Sentiments on your Card Front!

Hi Y'all.  I want to apologize that my Card Making Tips Series has skipped a few days!  My husband, Jeff,  had surgery last Wednesday and it's really thrown our home into a frenzy.  I assume I should have realized that ankle surgery was going to be a big deal but believe me I did not understand just how BIG!  Simple things like getting from one room to the next..... like the bathroom, is a major ordeal.  He can't put any weight at all on his left leg and he left the hospital with crutches and instructions that he will need to hop on his right leg.  Jeff is not really a hopper and he's a big guy.  His right leg has not bulked up for the challenge of holding up his weight.   The hopping around he did on Thursday now is giving him hip pain!  He was supposed to have been able to leave the hospital with a knee walker but there were issues between the Doctor's office and Medical Equipment Company.  Finally, last night we got the knee walker and it has wonderful and has certainly made things easier around here!

So back to the topic at hand, I want to visit using negative space on a card for your sentiments.   On the card below, I stamped the secondary sentiment in the negative space.  I think it really adds interest!

This card was so easy to make.  It was mostly DSP but I used my paper cutter to cut a slice out of the panel and then shortened the end by 1/2" so that it would fit over a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of whisper white cardstock.  In the opening I stamped "from the bottom of my heart" from the "Ornate Thanks" stamp set in Pretty Peacock Ink.  The Ornate Thanks Stamp Set has so many beautiful mix and match sentiments in a beautiful font!  I used one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the layered panel and attached to a top folding Pretty Peacock card base (11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2").  On a piece of scrap Pretty Peacock Cardstock, I stamped "Thanks" from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set in Versamark Ink and embossed it in White.  I cut that sentiment panel out with one of the Ornate Layers Dies and attached it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finally I stamped some of the leaves from the Forever Fern stamp Set in Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce, and Soft Sea Foam and then cut them out with the coordinating Forever Flourishing Dies.  I added the leaves with Stampin' Dimensionals on the bottom and multipurpose adhesive in some of the upper leaves.  I finished it off by adding a piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow on the bottom of the stems of the leaves.

The Spot Challenge #113 - Masculine Card with Stampin' Up! Forever Fern Stamp Set

Hi there!  I hope you are doing well!  I'm back over the The Spot Challenge Design Team with a Masculine Card for Challenge #113 this week!  

There are so many great stamp sets for masculine cards but I chose to use a set that you might not have thought of as masculine... Forever Fern.  

So although florals wouldn't be considered masculine, I think plants and greenery absolutely can be.  Especially if you keep it simple like I did here.  I cut four stitched squares from the Stitched Shape Dies and used Merry Merlot, Shaded Spruce, and Granny Apple Green for my greenery.  The Hello was stamped in Merry Merlot and the little splatter dots were stamped in Granny Apple Green.  I almost added a few more of the dots in the other colors but didn't want to busy it up!  I adhered the stitched square onto a 4" x 5 1/4" panel of woodgrain printed paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper collection!  That panel was mounted on a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I ran some linen thread around the matted panel twice and tied it in a knot on the left front side and unraveled the ends of the thread.  My card base was made by using a half sheet (11" x 4 1/4") of Merry Merlot and scoring at 5 1/2",  After adding some Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the matted card front, it was mounted to a top folding Merry Merlot Card Base.  Such a simple card but so beautiful!
